Nutrition Aide

High School Diploma or GED.


Assist in daily functions and operations of kitchen.  Assist in food preparation and delivery of meals. Ensures compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, USDA, ODJFS, and MVCDC regulations Policies and Procedures.

  • Physically able to work full-time hours (24-40 hours per week)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs of inventory, supplies and equipment.
  • Stand 90% of the day.
  • Ability to bend from knee to waist to place and remove food from ovens, freezers, refrigerators, carts, etc. and reach overhead to remove food from cabinets and stock shelves.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interact with public and to obtain and give necessary information.
  • Demonstrate the ability to cope with stressful situations firmly, courteously, tactfully and with respect for the rights of co-workers, parents, children, and community persons.
  • Display good general intelligence and emotional stability.
  • Carry forth the Mission statement of MVCDC, Inc.; support the quality management principles; and work toward the agency and program goals.
  • Responsible for ensuring the safety and active supervision of children during all parts of the daily routine to minimize the potential for children being left alone and/or unsupervised.
  • Assist with preparation and serving of nutritious meals and snacks.
  • Maintain established standards of sanitation, safety and food preparation according to MVCDC and local health department standards
  • Assist in the receipt of food products and supplies.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen, surrounding areas and food service equipment.
  • Participate in MVCDC staff/site meetings/trainings as assigned.
  • Ensure cleanliness, security and appropriate use of property, equipment, materials and documentation.
  • Represents MVCDC professionally in manner and dress to staff, parents, Board of Trustees, volunteers and the community.
  • Adhere to agency confidentiality policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to assist in providing quality services to children and families.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Capable and willing to do heavy lifting.
  • Ability to organize time and prioritize duties.
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of the team.
  • Willingness to continue professional education and training.
