For over 55 years, we’ve provided accessible, high-quality early learning and child care services for children from infancy to age five, starting with personalized support for expectant mothers. Our programs offer essential resources for pregnant women, ensuring a smooth transition for their newborns into our early learning programs once they turn six weeks old. In most cases, families must earn 100% of the Federal Poverty Level or less to enroll. Children experiencing homelessness or who are in foster or kinship care also are eligible. In some cases, children with disabilities may qualify.

Miami Valley Child Development Centers is proud to offer early learning and child care programs throughout Montgomery, Clark, and Madison counties, including right here in Trotwood. In addition to our centers, we partner with in-home Family Child Care providers to give families even more flexible care options.

Our Early Head Start program serves children from six weeks to age three, providing Trotwood families with nurturing, high-quality care tailored to meet the developmental needs of young children.   • Miami Valley Child Development Centers (MVCDC) takes a trusted, community-driven approach to early learning for Trotwood families. With several locations across Montgomery County, including Trotwood, we provide free or affordable early learning and child care for children ages six weeks to five years old. Families can choose from center-based, home-based, or school-based programs, with flexible part-day or full-day care options available on either a year-round or school-year schedule to meet their needs.

  • Our dedicated teachers and staff in Trotwood are "brain-builders," experts in nurturing children's early physical, social, and emotional development. Using a research-based curriculum, we begin the learning journey at birth. We’re equally committed to supporting Trotwood families through our Family Support Specialists, Home Visitors, and Coaches, offering assistance with housing, career development, health insurance, and more.

  • Families in Trotwood earning up to 100% of the Federal Poverty Level may be eligible, as well as children who are homeless or in foster or kinship care. Children with disabilities are also welcome to apply. Don’t assume your family doesn’t qualify—many Trotwood families are eligible for our programs!   • Many Trotwood families qualify for free child care, and those eligible for Publicly Funded Child Care may only need to pay a small co-pay.

  • In Trotwood, we offer both full-day and part-day options to meet the needs of families. Our infant and toddler program, which serves children from six weeks to three years old, operates year-round, providing consistent care and early learning experiences for our youngest learners.

  • Our Trotwood programs offer flexibility:

    Our school-day program offers early learning for up to 6 hours per day during the school year.

    Our part-day program runs for 3.5 hours a day, Monday through Thursday, with both a.m. and p.m. session options. This is a part-year program.

    Our full-day program offers up to 10 hours of care per day, Monday through Friday. Families selecting this option must be working or attending school and are required to apply for ODJFS Publicly Funded Child Care assistance to help support their child’s care.

  • Yes! Children in full-day programs receive a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack. Morning part-day attendees get breakfast and lunch, while afternoon attendees receive lunch and a snack.

    100% of teachers in our program have earned a minimum of a Child Development Associate credential.

    64% of Head Start teachers have a bachelor’s degree.

    73% of teachers at Early Head Start Child Care Partnerships have earned a Child Development Associate credential or are in the process of doing so.

  • Once a family qualifies to enroll in Early Head Start, their child can remain with us even if the family begins earning more than the allowable income threshold until he or she turns 3.

    If a family enrolls in Head Start (this program is for children between the ages of 3-5), the same is true. The family is still eligible to continue until their child is 5.

  • Family Support Specialists assist Trotwood families in setting and achieving goals, connecting them to valuable community services such as housing, job assistance, and more to help support the family’s overall success.

  • Our Trotwood team connects families with community partners for:

    • Immunizations

    • Health checks and physicals

    • Speech/language screenings

    • Hearing and vision exams

    • Dental exams

    •Lead/ Hemoglobin Screenings

  • Absolutely. Our Trotwood staff includes highly trained professionals who are dedicated to supporting children with disabilities and behavioral needs. We ensure that every child receives the care, attention, and resources they need to thrive in a positive, inclusive environment.

    MVCDC in Trotwood offers in-home services through our dedicated Home Visitors, who provide valuable resources, guidance, and activities to help families support their child’s learning right at home. These services are designed to create a supportive and nurturing environment where learning can flourish in the comfort of your own space.

  • Absolutely! We strongly encourage Trotwood families to be actively involved in their child’s early learning journey. Our Policy Council, made up of parents and caregivers, plays a key role in guiding MVCDC’s decisions and policies. If you're interested in joining this impactful group, your Family Support Specialist or your child’s teacher can provide more details on how to get involved and make a difference in our community.

    Trotwood parents and caregivers are welcome to:

    • Volunteer in their child’s classroom

    • Attend parent committee meetings

    • Participate in parenting classes
